ANNUAL REPORT FROM THE PCSO's

Chorleywood Policing 2007/2008

Here are some results from the previous year in the Chorleywood area.

As you all may be aware, Nikei Angel left back in January to go to St. Albans to become A Schools PCSO and PCSO Marc Ringland took his place.

Burglaries have increased across the most of Hertfordshire, this includes both dwelling and distraction burglaries. This is now being targeted by the 2008/2009 Policing plan. But in Chorleywood itself the PCSO's and PC's of the area have already been trying to combat the problem. Leaflet drops have been done in areas most affected and it's now standard policy within the Three Rivers area to do "5 a day" . Like the slogan suggests, PCSO's knock on 5 doors a day and introduce themselves and give crime prevention advice as well as handing out fridge magnets which was a home office plan which contains local phone numbers and the Non Emergency number for Hertfordshire Constabulary.

Antisocial behaviour is also down. There have been some recent issues regarding the usage of nuisance vehicles but these individuals have been dealt with quickly and issued Section 59 warnings.

Also at the beginning of April the two PCSO's dealt with near 50 young people on Chorleywood Common, seizing alcohol (nearly 7 rucksacks and carrier bags full) but also some drug paraphernalia.

Neighbourhood Watch membership is one of the best in Three Rivers with plans in place to better involve everyone from PC's to neighbourhood watch co-ordinators.

Vehicle crime has risen slightly by way of theft from motor vehicle. This has also being combated by ongoing operation tarantula, a simple but effective way of letting people know not to leave valuables on display. If it's the case that during PCSO's car park checks they find a vehicle with valuables in it then their number plates are taken and a letter sent to them. PCSO's also re-emphasized this message with Op Tarantula signs replaced back in car parks. Since the recent actions there have been no theft from motor vehicles.

PSCOs Lindsay Catlin & Marc Ringland

Hello again,

I can't believe it has been six months since I came to Chorleywood but time has flown and I'd like to thank all those who have welcomed and supported me since my arrival here.

Lindsey and I would like to urge you to report to us any information that you think may be suspicious -  no matter how irrelevant you believe it to be.

Please remember that even the smallest amount of information has the potential to lead to a much bigger picture and could be the last piece in the jigsaw that cracks a crime.

You can also find all contact details for your local PC's and much more information about us on the Hertfordshire Constabulary website.
