Solesbridge Lane to Sarratt Mill Bridge.

From the A404 proceed down Solesbridge Lane and the footpath is on your left just prior to the bridge over the M25. The first part of this path is surfaced but very pot-holed in places. After a couple of hundred yards you will see footpath 35, to Chorleywood House Estate, on your left and a further 200 yards or so footpath 34 also to Chorleywood House Estate. Continue straight on and on your right and on the other side of the river Chess is a property which has features in a number if dramas including Morse, Midsummer Murders and Lewis. A little further along the path runs alongside the Chess to Sarratt Mill Bridge at North Road with path no1 on the opposite side of North Road.

Troutstream Way to Little Ladies Wood. Part of the Chess Valley Walk.

Join footpath No 4 from Troutstream Way, near the junction of Overstream, along a level unmade path. Pass through a gate and continue along a single-track tarmac road. Where the road bears right into a property continue ahead on a grass path (100 yards) to Little Lady Wood.
This joins up with footpath No 3 and could be used as a circular walk.

Chorleywood Road to Loudwater Lane

Leave the A404 and turn right into Kingfisher Lure. Footpath No 6 is immediately on the right hand side. This path joins up with footpath No 5. Continue on footpath No5 to Loudwater.

Loudwater Drive to Troutstream Way

From the A404 turn into Loudwater Lane, cross the River Chess and turn into Loudwater Drive. Footpath No8 is on the right-hand side after about 200 yards. The initial part of the footpath is a steady incline which levels at the top. The walk is between gardens entering Troutstream Way close to the junction with Sarratt Lane by Loudwater Ridge.

Loudwater Lane to Sarratt Lane

Immediately after entering Loudwater Drive, footpath No10is on the right-hand side. This path is of a more open aspect than others in the area, although over rough ground. It rises very steeply to Sarratt Lane. This can be used as a circular walk with footpath No 8.

A404 to footpath 32 On the Common

A very short path from the front corner of Tollgate Cottage to the Rickmansworth Road A404 opposite the Shell garage.

Green St. to Common Road

Travel up Green Street past the houses, the footpath is on the right 80 yards past Orchard Drive. The back gardens of Orchard Drive are on your right with fields on the left. Cows and wild deer are frequently seen in the fields and St Clement Danes school can be seen in the distance. The footpath emerges on the Common between Darville’s Yard and Kennel Cottages on Old Common Road.
Terrain: Unsurfaced, gradual downhill slope from Green St. Steeper uphill slope for last 200 yards to the Common

Lower Road to Station car park steps

From Lower Road opposite Berks Hill this path leads to the station car park.
There is a public right of way through the station to Station Approach and further access through Betjamin Gardens (path 43) to the Common.

Burfield Road (unmade road) to Quickley Lane

A cut through from the end of Burfield Road to Quickley Lane between Nos 80-82 opposite Rendlesham Way.

Quickley Lane to Heronsgate

Starting between 107 & 109 Quickley Lane this path is a cut through with gardens on either side. It emerges into Heronsgate by what is currently Rickwood Motors and opposite Nos 35 & 36 Heronsgate Road. Directly across the road is footpath 21 to Bullsland Lane.

Bullsland Lane to Heronsgate

From Bullsland Lane opposite Bullsland Farm proceed cross the field through the kissing gate and bear right with woods on your left and continue uphill to a second kissing gate. Cross the path and over the stile you will shortly see an allotment on your left, one of three Parish allotments, the other two being at Copmans Wick and Dog Kennel Lane. The path emerges in Heronsgate with the Stag pub on your right.
Terrain: Unsurfaced, gentle slope with stile, can be very muddy in wet conditions

Bullsland Lane to Old Shire Lane (footpath 33)

Proceed down Bullsland Lane and along the unsurfaced section of the road with footpath 23 on your right. Continue along the road passing Bullsland Farm on the right and footpath 22 to the left. With fields on both sides the path continues with a gentle downward slope passing a further footpath (not parish maintained) on your right which links up with footpath 22. The path slopes steeply down with woodland on the left. At the bottom of the slope the path turns 90 degrees to the right and joins path 33 where a further path (not parish maintained) forks off to the left.

Stag Lane to Chorleywood Bottom

From the corner of Stag Lane and Rendlesham Way this path runs along the back of the properties in Furze View and Hubbards Lane. 200 yards from the Stag lane entrance you pass Warings Field on your right, this is a public open space owned by Three Rivers District Council. A little further along you pass footpath 25 (leading to Long Lane) after which the path slopes down more steeply with steps along the last 50 yards down to Copmans Wick. Here you will see one of the three Parish allotments, the other two being The Swillett and Dog Kennel Lane. The footpath continues down to Turney’s Orchard in Chorleywood Bottom.

Chorleywood Bottom to Berry Lane

From Turney’s Orchard off Chorleywood Bottom take the footpath on your left (opposite footpath 26) for 110 yards along a narrow footpath through holly bushes which then turns into fences on both sides before Clements Road. Cross the road and proceed up the dozen steps and steeply upward to Berry Lane emerging opposite West Clayton Estate.

Queens Drive to Berry Lane

Take the path between 59 & 61 Queens Drive and turn right at the back of the houses. Proceed along the path for about 80 yards and then cross the M25 footbridge 9 (not a pleasant experience). Continue along the footpath alongside the motorway with Pheasants Wood on your left. The path takes a left turn by the electricity booster station with a steep hollow on the right. Keeping the field on your r left continue along the twisting path in the wooded area. At the end of the path turn right downhill on the wider track for about 195 yards to Berry Lane by the entrance to Berry Farm.

Chorleywood Common Darvills Yard to path 14

A short grass path from the corner of Darvills Yard /Common Road/ Old Common Road to the narrow section of Path 14 which goes to Green Street. This path is also known as and marked by a sign, as Path 14

Chorleywood Common Dog Kennel Cottages to junction of Common Rd and A404

From Dog Kennel Cottages walk up the gravel track opposite to reach the front of the Black Horse pub. As the path goes left, bear right and follow the track towards the trees and horse track. Cross the horse track and pass a way marker, marked “circular walk” and cross the golf fairway. Continue straight ahead and past the next way marker, crossing path with church visible on right and over the next fairway. Eventually reaching the A404 bear left to reach the largest pond by the traffic lights.

Chorleywood Common Junction of Station Approach and Common Road to path 32d

From the hairpin bend at the junction of Station Approach and Common Road, follow the path up through the trees to reach the ‘Gun Dell’ on your left. Continue over the horse track and through the trees to reach a fairway. Cross the fairway heading to the right of the gorse bushes and continue through the trees to join path 32d.

Chorleywood Common Dog Kennel Cottages to path 12

The path starts at the edge of the Common by the ‘Give Way’ sign situated at the end of the gravel track by South Lodge (the old chauffeurs house for South Cottage). Walk along the common and up to meet the corner of a large hedge directly opposite the Black Horse public house. Follow the line of the hedge past Constable Cottage, 17th century grade II listed, which has, in its past, been both a pub and a police station. Continue walking over the track and follow the path behind a pair of cottages then on past the rear of Apple Tree Dell. The path crosses the driveway to Cedars village (at one time the home of the Governor of the Bank of England) and continue past the entrance to the Paddocks and Apple Tree Farm House (previously the home of Sir Henry Wood). Continue past the alms houses to the right-hand corner of Toll Gate Cottage (the former home of Sir George & Lady Alexander) where the path ends (and joins Path 12).

Chorleywood House Estate to the Chess

From the A404 turn into Lady Ela Drive opposite the cricket ground and with the Parish office on your right. Continue down the road to the T junction and turn right into a parking area, Ahead of you the path forks. Take the left-hand path with fields on either side. When you reach a junction of paths continue straight on into the woods following the path marked “Valley Walk “which slopes steeply down to footpath No2.

Newhouse Farm to Barrel Arch (Part of the Chiltern Way). The signpost at the Barrel Arch is incorrectly marked B3 rather that 38

Proceed down Farm Road, at the top of Blacketts Wood Drive, and take the footpath on your right at the end of the houses. There are fields on both sides after which you enter Carpenters Wood. Carpenters Wood is the collective name for the three woods – Carpenters, Hillas and Whitelands. There are interpretive boards and a notice board at this point. Once in the wood the path is a bridle way and can be very muddy. The bridle way undulates through the woodland and at the top of the slope pass under the “No horses” sign and keep to the footpath running parallel to the bridle way down to the Barrel Arch which denotes the Parish boundary. Through the Barrel Arch the path continues straight on to the A404 near Van Hage. If you take a left turn just through the Barrel Arch the path meanders through Old Hanging Wood and on towards Little Chalfont.
